St. Louis, MO. – The Women's Basketball team hosted Robert Morris University on the Principia St. Louis campus. The Panthers took a good lead 18-9 in the first quarter and started off playing some great basketball. Robert Morris came back and outscored Principia in the second quarter 22 -14. Going into halftime with a one-point lead, the Panthers hoped to outscore the Eagles in the second half. Unfortunately, Robert Morris came away with a 73-65 victory. The Panthers shot 47% from the field, which was a great improvement over past games and out-rebounded Robert Morris 43-39. Turnovers were still a concern, but Principia played tough until the end.
Good to Know:
Sabrina Netherwood played her best game yet with 11 total points and six rebounds. She was also 3 for 4 from the free throw line.
Nikki Matters and
Sophia Hathaway each scored 23 points and Sophia was the overall leader in rebounds with 15. Nikki was 3 for 4 from the 3 point, but unfortunately fouled out with 2 ½ minutes left in the game.
They said it:
"What impressed me the most was the way we played the first quarter. The players played with determination and took the open shots. Shooting 47% from the field was a great improvement over past games. It is so much fun to see this team improve."
