Richmond, IN. -- Principia traveled to Richmond, Indiana to take on Earlham College. On the first day of fall, the weather was cool and a nice change of pace from the humid heat.
On a playing surface different from the game field at home, Principia took some time to get used to the field of play. Earlham came out strong but Principia had the wind and the slope. This paid off as in the final seconds of the first half,
Sarai Marcano put away Principia's goal on a beautiful find from Madi Arens to end the first half.
Earlham came out hard in the second half. They were determined to get past
Hannah Hathaway who was on fire in goal. New to the position, Hathaway has constantly improved and made some massive saves today. Finally after about 13 minutes into the second half, the Quakers found a way to level the score. With a couple quality counters, Principia could not find another goal. But with 15 minutes left in the game, Earlham's intense pressure caused the Panthers to falter and the Quakers took the lead 2-1. Even with final moments of hope, Principia could not find an equalizer.
