Elsah, ILL. – The Women's Basketball team hosted Blackburn College, a SLIAC opponent. Blackburn outscored the Panthers 40-18 in the first half, scoring most of their points in the paint. Unfortunately, Principia did not play their best game on the boards allowing Blackburn too many offensive rebounds and second chances. There were also too many turnovers for Principia. Neither team shot well from the 3 pt. line. Principia was 3 for 4 from the free throw line.
Good to Know:
Nikki Matters led the Panthers in scoring with 18 points and
Sabrina Netherwood and
Sophia Hathaway each scored 10. Sophia led the Panthers in rebounds with 13.
They said it:
"We did not play well against Blackburn's 1-2-2 defense and unfortunately didn't play as we are capable. The positive part of the game was that we never gave up and played tough ball until the end, scoring 18 to Blackburn's 20 in the 4
th quarter. We always come away from these games learning how to be better next game."
