St. Louis, MO. – The Women's Basketball team traveled to Webster University to play a game that was postponed earlier in the season due to snow. Webster is a very tough team, both on offense and defense. They took the lead right away and were ahead 52-11 by half. The Panthers decided at halftime that they would meet some game goals for the second half, including not allowing as many points by Webster, cutting down the turnovers and doing a better job on the boards. Principia played much better ball with only 3 turnovers the second half, keeping Webster's score down and doing a much better job rebounding. Principia saw some different line-ups with point guard
Nikki Matters unable to play some of the 4
th quarter. Everyone pulled together and played as a team with everyone contributing.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway had zero points in the first half but was high scorer for the Panthers with 15 in the second half.
Nikki Matters had 9 points and the rest of the points were spread among 4 players. Sophia also had 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
They said it:
"These players play with a lot of heart. They worked hard against a very tough team. We let Webster have two many second chances and allowed them to score 62 points in the paint. But our team pulled together and played a much better second half."
