Eureka, ILL. – The Women's Basketball team traveled to Eureka College for their first game since returning from Christmas break. The team was also playing for the first time without forward
Liz McAloney, as she graduated in December. With a new starting five, the team did well and fought to the end. The Panthers played Eureka pretty close the first half, only down by 11. However, the 3
rd quarter was disappointing as Eureka outscored the Panthers 26-12, mainly scoring with their transition game. But never giving up, Principia played the Red Devils tight the 4
th quarter scoring 13 while holding Eureka to 14. Unfortunately,
Nikki Matters who usually plays the entire game, had foul trouble, forcing her to sit out 10 minutes of the game.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway led the team in scoring with 18 points and in rebounds with 15.
Nikki Matters scored 11 and
Anna Webster contributed a season high 10 points. While out-rebounding Eureka, the Panthers had too many turnovers, allowing the Red Devils easy points.
They said it:
"There were a lot of positive things in this game, including great hustle from all players and points spread among our our entire team. Three of our players were in foul trouble, causing us to play more cautiously on defense. The players played until the buzzer and we had contributions from all the players. "
