Elsah, ILL. – The Women's Basketball team hosted Westminster College, one of the top teams in the SLIAC Conference. It was definitely one of the Panthers' best games of the season, leading at halftime by three.
Christina Redington was a starter for the first time this season and played 36 minutes. The team played great basketball on both sides of the court and the starting five played the majority of the game as Westminster played approximately 14 players. Westminster outscored Principia in the second half to win by 24.
Good to Know:
Nikki Matters had 23 points and
Sophia Hathaway scored 19. Westminster had 22 offensive rebounds, which obviously gave them many too many chances to score. They had 48 rebounds to Principia's 24. Principia improved in turnovers with only 17 this game. Sophia blocked 5 shots and Nikki had 8 assists.
They said it:
"Nothing is more rewarding to watch our team play good basketball and to see players improve. This was definitely a team effort including great scoring by Sophia, good offensive moves by Sabrina, good passing and scoring by Nikki, great drives by Anna, and good passing by Christina. Rachel and Maddie came off the bench with the most positive attitudes. I feel blessed to be associated with these women. "
