Elsah, ILL. – The Women's Basketball team hosted Lincoln Christian University and lost 55-64. Principia was ahead 22-13 after the first quarter and was in control. In the second quarter, starting point guard
Nikki Matters had an injury taking her out of the remainder of the game.
Georgia Rather did a great job stepping in as point guard but the Red Lions outscored the Panthers 16-6 in the second quarter. Principia kept things close in the 3
rd quarter scoring 17 points to 14 for Lincoln Christian. But Principia had foul trouble in the 4
th quarter when
Madi Leslie and
Georgia Rather fouled out, leaving Principia with only 4 on the floor. This never stopped the Panthers from playing tough until the end. The ladies played tenacious defense and the opposing coaches were so complimentary of our players and the manner in which they played.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway had a double double with 24 points and 13 rebounds and also 4 blocks.
Georgia Rather had 13 points and
Christina Redington had 8 points, including two 3's.
Beka Petersen and
Madi Leslie each had 7 rebounds.
They said it:
"We played a great game and rebounded so much better than we have in the first two games. We continue to shoot well from the free throw line, making 12 for 15. I am proud of the way our players hustled until the very end and never gave up."

Dory Smith.
