Fulton, MO. – The Women's Basketball team traveled to Fulton, Missouri today for a game against Westminster College from the SLIAC Conference. Westminster has been scoring over 100 points against some of their conference opponents, so Principia knew it would be a tough game. The Panthers played one of their better games, despite the 54-84 loss. It was definitely their best shooting day. Principia out-shot Westminster in every category. They shot 41% from the field vs. Westminster's 35% field goal percentage. Principia shot 38% from 3 point and Westminster shot 22%. And the Panthers shot 83% from the free throw line while Westminster shot 75%. The area of the game where Westminster dominated was rebounding. Their offensive rebounds gave them too many chances.
Good to Know:
Nikki Matters had 21 points and
Sophia Hathaway had 17.
Anna Webster had one of her high scoring games contributing 11 points. Sophia continues to be tough on the boards with 11 rebounds. Sophia also had 6 blocks!
They said it:
"It always sounds unusual to say it was such a great game when you lose by 30, but that is how it felt. All parts of the game were good with all players contributing and being positive teammates in the game and on the bench. We shot so well and played tough defense. We just need to keep working on rebounding. "
