Elsah, IL – Men's Tennis hosted the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, coming away with a 9-0 sweep of the Eutectics.
A look at the matches:
The Panthers jumped all over the Eutectics with quick wins in doubles. With
Daniel Gomez resting during singles play, everyone had the opportunity to then move up a spot in the lineup. At #4,
Rafter Sprague got on the board first without dropping a game. SLIAC Player of the Week
Juan Segovia found himself in a battle for the first set at #2. With the score even at 5-5, he held serve and got a break to take the set. It was smooth sailing from then on, as he put up a bagel in the second set for a smooth win.
Wyatt Dale enjoyed his time back at #1, fighting hard to take the first set and dominating the second after breaking down his opponent.
Elliott Matthiesen got the start at #5 and was solid the whole way, even with a surprise broken string early in the second set unable to slow him down. Matthiesen put pressure on his man with his forehand and smacked some winners, only dropping two games in the match.
Good to Know:
With the win, The Panthers move to 5-2 on the season. The team now prepares for what will be their toughest test, and biggest opportunity to this point of the season, coming against Coe College.
