Panthers have mixed results in Greenville

Greenville, IL—Principia Panthers played in a rain delayed away match against the Greenville Panthers with the opposing team's Panthers winning every match and completing a 9-0 sweep.

A Look at the Match/Game - Principia's #5 singles player, Hannah Switzer, had the closest match against any of the Greenville players.  Hannah had a good comeback in the second set after losing the first, 6-2.  In the second set, Hannah played with controlled aggression, hitting safely from the baseline in long steady rallies, and looking for every opportunity to come into the net.  In another close match, Paige Lesko, #3 singles, had a strong showing, forcing her opponent into errors with steady play and short balls.

Good to Know – Each member of the team is showing marked improvement.  The lopsided scores in the doubles does not reflect the team's improvement in volleying and returning.  In singles, it was great to see more consistency in the rallies and the courage to come to the net when pulled in by a short ball.

Coach Quote – "It was a tough match for the team, and they are striving to bring out their best game. The team provides each other great support and encouragement. "Go Panthers" and "Go PC" could be heard from the courts as the players cheered each other on during their matches.

Up Next -On Tuesday April 13, 2021 at 4:30pm the Panthers are playing their second conference match at home against the Webster Gorlocks. If we play on the outdoor courts, spectators are allowed, come out and support the team!
