Elsah, IL—Principia's women's team competed well and executed their shots in an 8-1 showing against the Westminster Blue Jays.
A Look at the Match/Game- Our #1 doubles team was ready for the hard hitting Blue Jays.
Kelsie Huss ran down every ball and made several terrific poaches.
Caroline Carlson was alert at net prepared for the power ground strokes aimed at her. It was an exciting match with many good exchanges by all four players. At #2 doubles,
Paige Lesko and
Hannah Switzer earned their first win as a team. They were dominant. Hannah was active at the net putting away her volleys, while Paige was consistent at the baseline and helped set up the volley winners.
Good to Know- It was great to see the work the team did this week in practice come to fruition. We worked on our doubles strategy and being ready at net. In singles, the team practiced playing pressure points which came in handy for all the matches. At #2 single, Caroline played a long match that went to the third set tie-breaker. To even get into the tie-breaker, Caroline had to hold off a half dozen match points. She played very steady and came back to win the second set, and in the third set she was down match games twice.
Victoire de Visme played steady and won her match without losing a game.
Coach Quote- "I am proud of the team. They executed what we worked on this week. Caroline took her match to the limit and earned a personal win even if the score did not reflect it. She put everything into her match and will bring the lessons learned into her play this coming week."
Up Next- -On Tuesday April 20, 2021 at 4:30 PM the Panthers will take on Lewis and Clarke for their final dual match of the season. On Friday, April 23 they will play in the Conference Championship.
