ELSAH, IL - The Principia Men's Tennis team got their first win of the season on Monday evening against Alma College. The Panthers swept doubles and took 4 out of 6 singles matches for a convincing 7-2 win.
The Panthers got off to a hot start in doubles, not dropping more than three games on any court.
Elliott Matthiesen and
Everett Poznick got their first win together at the #3 spot.
Daniel Gomez and
Juan Segovia picked up routine wins on the top singles courts, and
Rafter Sprague stayed strong through a tight second set to get the team another win at #3 singles.
William Johnson had a battle at #4 but fell short in a wild third-set tiebreak. Poznick also held off a comeback attempt to get his first singles win of the year at #6.
Everyone in the starting lineup got at least one win. Gomez, Principia's #1, continues to improve towards being at 100% again.
