ELSAH, IL – The Principia men's and women's cross country teams hosted a twilight meet on Wednesday evening as runners from five local schools raced through the winding North Farm course at sunset.
The women's 6K went off first with the Principia women finishing in second place behind junior college Mineral Area. The Panthers were led by sophomore
Myka Fenton, who was racing in her first meet of the season as she is also a member of the women's soccer team. Fenton finished in 7th place with a time of 30:07.5, just ahead of freshman teammate
Nina Martinez iin 8th place at 30:21.4.
Hannah Wymer (10th),
Joy Onyechi (11th), and
Sarah Fakorede (13th) rounded out the Panther women's top five.
In the men's 8K, the Principia men also finished in second, this time to DII school Missouri S&T. Junior
Rex Heath was the Panthers first finisher in 3rd place with a season-best time of 28:13.5. Fellow junior
Zach Proctor finished next in 6th with a time of 28:24.9.
Kennett Rampley (15th),
Holland Thomas (16th),
Aaron Nutwell (22nd),
Collins Odienge (23rd), and
Dominic Baiocchi (26th) rounded out the Panther men's top seven.

Fenton and Heath were both named SLIAC Runners of the Week for their strong showings. Principia's next race will come this Friday afternoon at Bradley University, before hosting alumni for a 5K fun run on Saturday at 10:00 am.
