GRINNELL, IA – The Panthers men's and women's cross country teams traveled up to Iowa this weekend for the 63rd annual Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College. Principia has been gone up to Grinnell to race in this meet for the past 15+ years, and it is usually the team's first taste of running the official 8K (men) and 6K (women) distances that they will run at conference and regionals.
Despite the heat wave that made for tough racing conditions, the Panthers raced well overall. The men ran first with
Kennett Rampley (28:42 - 35th) edging
Holland Thomas (28:43 - 36th) by one second for the team lead. Each improved their time from last year on this course by around 40 seconds. Newcomer
Amos Ostler also ran a composed 29:26 for 50th in his first collegiate 8K. The Prin women ran second with
Sophia Green leading the way in 34th with a time of 26:16.
Sarah Erickson and
Danielle Vargas ran together and finished three seconds apart in 65th and 66th.

On Monday, Rampley and Green were each named SLIAC Runners of the Week as the conference's top finishers from this past week. Congrats to Kennett and Sophia!
