ELSAH, IL – The Principia men's basketball team lost back-to-back conference home games to the Webster University Gorloks and Westminster College Blue Jays.
On Saturday vs Webster, the Gorloks scored the first ten points of the contest and never gave up the lead the rest of the game. The Panthers did hold their own in the second half, outscoring Webster by one, but the Gorloks still won comfortably, 82-64. Principia was led by
Bobby Alford III with 22 points and
Nolan Simon with 18 points. while
Charley Hoffman came close to his first double-double with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
On Tuesday vs Westminster, the Panthers actually had a strong first half and held a 37-32 lead at halftime. The second half was a different story as the Blue Jays flipped the script and outscored Principia by 15 in the final frame to earn their first conference win of the season, 85-75. Simon was the Panthers leading scorer with 20 points, while
Eaton Smith,
Kingsley Cockburn, and
Demetrius Torrence also finished in double figures.
The Panthers will attempt to end their six game losing streak when they head to Blackburn College this coming Saturday afternoon.
