CARLINVILLE, IL / LOUISVILLE, KY – The Panthers men's basketball team's losing streak has reached eight games after dropping recent road contests at Blackburn College and Spalding University.
On Saturday at Blackburn, Principia battled back from a 12 point deficit in the second half to get within one with 7:48 remaining. The Beavers were able to hold off the Panthers from there, rebuilding their lead and sending Principia home with a 66-56 loss. Then on Tuesday at Spalding, the Panthers stayed within five points of the Golden Eagles over the first 12 and half minutes, but struggled the rest of the game and fell by a final score of 74-52.
Nolan Simon led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points in each game, while
Eaton Smith earned two more double-doubles with 11 rebounds plus 14 and 11 points.
Principia will now host a four-game homestand beginning on Saturday against Eureka. The game will tip off at 3:00 pm as both the women's and men's programs welcome many of their alumni back to campus for the weekend.
