Beach Volleyball drops close match to Missouri Baptist

St. Louis, MO. -- The Principia beach volleyball team took on NAIA Missouri Baptist today in St. Louis. This is both team's first year sponsoring the sport, and we are grateful that there are two schools in the St. Louis area with collegiate programs. Principia fell to Missouri Baptist 2-3 in the match.

Principia showed marked progress, due to their training and competitions in Alabama. The women attacked the game boldly - getting more swings and shots offensively, and they showed great hustle and created some "wow" defensive saves that led to dramatic points.

Victories came from the #3 team of Deanna Scheck and Sophia Hathaway, and the #4 team of Mia Gill and Emily Tippetts. The #5 team of Makena Patterson and Zoe Mahler came oh-so-close as they worked for the split 1-1 and narrowly lost the deciding game.  The Panthers' #6 team of Jami Wissman and Molly Dixon played neck and neck for the longest time - showing a great work ethic as they kept the ball flying!  The #2 team of  Emelie Fredrikson and Cha Cha Fisher and the #1 team of Emma Herman and Sierra Sprague played tough! Both teams faced multi-tool players and were committed to making their opponents work very hard for their points. Both teams were quite effective with their shots when their ball handling was under control, and successfully created chaos for their opponents.

Principia has a re-match with Missouri Baptist Saturday April 2nd on Parent's Weekend. Play begins at 11am at Principia's home court, "The Sandbox".
