Jacksonville, ILL. -- Principia women's soccer traveled to Jacksonville, Illinois to play MacMurray College for a 3pm game on Tuesday.
Â
The first half was not what Principia soccer has been of late. With it being an absolutely beautiful day the team did not play the most beautiful first half of soccer. With a bumpy field and a slow start, the Highlanders kept the Panthers at bay keeping the score 0-0.
Â
The second half was much better and in the 50th minute,
Lily Bermel found the back of the net after a good fight by
Madison Arens and off a pass from
Emma Dixon. Bermel found her second of the game in the 56th minute after receiving a pass from
Emelie Fredrikson. In the 60th minute
Clarice Bruch finished a ball that had eyes as it came through the box with another assist credited to Dixon.
Brittany Ouellette finished a gorgeous ball to the upper 90 on another perfect setup from Fredrikson in the 77th minute. The game finished with a 4-0 victory.
Â
They said it:
"MacMurray did a nice job thwarting our attack in the first half. I'm grateful we didn't succumb to discouragement and that meant coming back in the second half to score 4 goals for the win."
