Missouri Baptist beats Principia beach volleyball

St. Louis, MO. -- The Panthers took the court against Missouri Baptist one last time this season, and lost the match. Emily Tippetts and Noelle Shoemake competed as #1 and they really had MBU scratching their head. MBU's #1 team is very good and has some huge victories under their belt this season. Tippetts and Shoemake  took game two to force a deciding game, and all attention was on court 1 to see who had broken MBU #1s. It was a valiant effort, but not enough for the win.

#2s Emelie Fredrikson and Nikki Matters had a heck of a match, as they worked hard to execute their game plan. They played gritty and thoughtful, and took down MBU's #2s in two straight games! These two have been so diligent and today they just let loose and competed! Cha Cha Fisher and Devon Marunde competed at #3, and as usual it was fun to watch their athleticism as they defended and pursued, and worked to find the sand on MBU's side. They were going after it the right way, but there were too many unforced errors to earn the win. Makena Patterson and Victoria Vandiver played and lost at #4, struggling a bit with that first-ball control. MBU showed more consistency in their game, giving them the win. Zoe Mahler and Anna Webster competed at #5, and did a nice job as new partners. Anna's rainbow shots and high deep serves kept the opponents wondering and reaching, and Zoe's cuts and hits worked well when their ball control was tight. Laura Cluthe and Amanda Roberts competed at #6s, and forced a deciding game after executing their game plan very well in game two. MBU was out of balance as Prin made them scurry to pick up balls pushing them deep and pulling them short. Tough seam serving helped them stay in the match, but they ended up losing in the end.

Principia has their final home match this Friday at 4:30 pm against Lewis and Clark Community College- see you all there!
