Elsah, ILL. – The Women's Basketball team hosted SLIAC opponent, Blackburn College for the last game before heading home for Christmas break. Down 24-32 at half, the Panthers never recovered and the Red Devils were able to come away with the victory due to their good shooting. Blackburn was 8 for 18 from the 3 pt. line while the Panthers only connected on 3 of 21. The Panthers did a better job taking care of the ball this game with only 17 turnovers and they had 45 rebounds, including 13 of them being offensive rebounds.
Good to Know:
Nikki Matters returned to the court for the first time in weeks and led the team with 27 points and 6 rebounds.
Sophia Hathaway scored 17 and had 9 rebounds. The only other scorer for the Panthers was
Georgia Rather with 3 points.
Beka Petersen once again played good defense and had 8 rebounds.
They said it:
"The team's shooting percentage compared to Blackburn was the difference in the game. It is tough to win when you shoot 25% from the field and 14% from 3 point. But the girls played aggressively until the very end and each player gave their all."
