Fulton, MO. -- The Women's Basketball team traveled to Fulton, Missouri to play SLIAC opponent, Westminster College. Tied at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers came off playing one of their best quarters of basketball this season. The intensity and great job on defense paid off! The Panthers handled the press the first quarter but could not do the same in the 2
nd quarter with
Sophia Hathaway on the bench with 3 fouls. Unfortunately, Westminster outscored the Panthers in the second quarter by a score of 30-9. Principia played better in the 3
rd and 4
th quarters, but Westminster came away with a victory outscoring the Panthers 100-59. Principia shot 40% for the game while Westminster shot 48% but the Blue Jays shot 30 more shots and scored 38 points off transition. Westminster took care of the ball only committing 7 turnovers to 24 for the Panthers.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway led in scoring with 25 points and 10 rebounds. After committing 3 fouls early in the game, she didn't commit any more fouls and was able to finish the game.
Nikki Matters scored 24 and was 8 for 10 from the free throw line. Both Madie Leslie and
Georgia Rather contributed 5 points.
