Elsah, IL. – The Women's Basketball team hosted Iowa Wesleyan and lost a tough game by the score of 68-63. The game started with such excitement and momentum for the Panthers, leading 31-21 at halftime. The Panthers kept Iowa Wesleyan to one 3 point shot the first half and that was the team's goal. Principia knew they had to continue to keep Iowa from scoring at the 3 point line. The third quarter was a different story as Iowa scored seven 3 point shots and outscored the Panthers 26-18. Principia worked hard the entire game and played some great basketball. They outrebounded Iowa Wesleyan 53-40 and had only 11 turnovers. The Panthers took 10 more shots than Iowa Wesleyan and shot 81% from the charity line.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway scored 27 points, had 16 rebounds, and 7 blocks.
Nikki Matters scored 31 points and had 11 rebounds. Nikki also had 9 assists, being so close to a triple double for the game.
Beka Petersen was once again on the boards with 11 rebounds.

"The players met every game goal except winning the game. The team outrebounded Iowa, had fewer than 15 turnovers, and shot over 70% from the free throw line. The biggest satisfaction as a coach is to hear the players say they are having so much fun. This is a special group of women."
