Elsah, IL. – The Women's Basketball team hosted MacMurray College and played well for three of the four quarters. In the third quarter the Highlanders outscored Principia 22-6 due to MacMurray's press, causing too many turnovers. Principia did cause more turnovers by MacMurray than they usually do against opponents.
Beka Petersen was a player that did not want to give up, she was all over the floor causing havoc for MacMurray. The Highlanders shot 7 for 23 from the 3 point line and both teams shot over 70% from the line.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway led in scoring with 23 points and had 11 rebounds. Once again, she had some incredible blocks, with a total of 6 for the game.
Madi Leslie contributed 8 points and
Nikki Matters scored 7 for the Panthers.
They said it:
"It is unfortunate how we played in the 3
rd quarter as it was the difference in the game. You have to credit MacMurray for their great defense. It is tough to keep up that pace with only 7 players and MacMurray took advantage of that."
