Elsah, IL. – The Women's Basketball team hosted Westminster College and were again only able to play with 5 players.
Sophia Hathaway,
Madi Leslie,
Maddie Wann,
Beka Petersen, and
Rachel McLeod-Warrick were tough, each obviously playing 40 minutes. At the end of the first quarter the score was tied 15-15, so Blue Jays pressed the Panthers in the second quarter and outscored Principia 34-5. In the third quarter Westminster outscored Principia again 26-13, but the Panthers kept fighting until the end and scored 11 to the Blue Jays 13 in the fourth quarter. Sophia led the team as point guard, but it was a total team effort. When you don't have any subs, you find a way to play 40 minutes.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway had a double double with 29 points and 13 rebounds. She was one away from a triple double with 9 blocked shots! Madie Leslie was 4 for 10 from the 3-point line scoring 14 points.
Beka Petersen was all over the court causing havoc while playing defense. She had 6 rebounds
They said it:
"When you love your teammates, you play when you feel like you can't. These women left it all on the court. I was proud of how they began the game forcing Westminster to press in the second quarter due to a tied score. What a great group of young women."
