ROLLA, MO - Today the Principia Men's Basketball team traveled to Missouri S&T to play in an exhibition game coming off of their Thanksgiving break. The Panthers came into today on a two game winning streak. They played a challenging opponent in the S&T Miners, a Division II team from the GLVC Conference.
The game began with the Miners pulling ahead early, jumping out to a 13-3 lead. S&T knocked down a couple of 3 pointers, and Principia struggled to score. The Panthers were getting good offense shots from the start, but were simply unable to knock down any open looks. The missing streak was broken by a deep 3 from
Jake Kampf to beat the shot clock, and from there the Panthers climbed back, cutting the margin to 7 points. The half ended with Principia down 21 points, but the players continued focus on their effort and the little things they could improve on in the game.
The second half began with much of the same, and although the Panthers came out with good energy, they were unable to have much of an impact on the overall score. S&T's offensive flurry was too much for Principia, as they continued knock down shots and finish in transition. The Panthers ended up succumbing to the Miners, 91-60.
Good To Know:Â Despite the Panthers being at a height disadvantage, they were only out rebounded by 2 in the game.
Clark Davidson finished the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds and
AJ Byrd finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
