The Principia College volleyball team worked hard for the "w" tonight with a 5 set victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy (SLCOP). This win moves Principia to 9-6 on the season.
The Panthers started out strong and smooth, showing the click they love to feel! The game felt simple and easy with Principia putting down 15 kills for a team hitting percentage of .357, and winning 25-19. Game two began the see-saw feeling with several runs of errors - hitting, communication, serve and passing errors. Prin ended up losing 21-25 in game two. The next game was closer to the first with 13 kills, hitting a respectable .235, and Principia pulled off that win 25-21. Game four was a roller coaster with Prin coming up short, but the team rebounded and intensified their efforts to take the win with a 15-10 deciding set victory.
Teddye Shaffer and
Hannah Richards were picking up everything in the back row, with 16 and 14 digs respectively. The top group hitting tonight was led by
Hannah Richards with 18 Kills, and
Tara Edwards dumped 8 balls, while
Kiersten Andersen had 7 kills and
Hillary Moser hit 6.
Anne Goodrich-Stuart was stellar from the serving line with 2 aces and serving 94%.
Kiersten Andersen had two aces as well and served 90%, and
Isabelle Tetu served 91%. Kiersten also posted two solo blocks.
Next week is busy for the Panthers. We compete against the top 3 ranked teams in the SLIAC - Spalding on Monday, and Greenville and Webster on Friday.. And on Tuesday, we play Blackburn on the road.!
