St. Louis, MO. – The Women's Basketball team traveled to Fontbonne University for a SLIAC Conference game. Despite losing this game, the Panthers played their best game of the season. After the first half, Principia was down by 40 points. In the third quarter the Panthers out scored the Griffins by 4 points and the Griffins were still playing their starters. It was a different line-up tonight for Principia with
Christina Redington playing point guard the entire game, due to
Nikki Matters being unable to play. The five players on the court for Principia played as a unit. They did things the coaches have not seen them do before, which was very exciting. For the first time, Principia outrebounded their opponent with 4 more than Fontbonne. Principia shot 41% from the field. The turnovers were a problem for Principia in the first half, but the Panthers did much better the second half. All their hard work really paid off.
Good to Know:
Sophia Hathaway scored 35 points, had 18 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
Madi Leslie had 7 points.
Beka Petersen was all over the floor and had 9 rebounds. As point guard,
Christina Redington had 6 assists.
They said it:
"The second half of this game was definitely our best play of the season. The coaches enjoyed watching our players have fun playing great basketball. Five players played the entire game and never quit. We couldn't be more proud."
-Coach
Dory Smith.
