Jacksonville, IL – The Principia College women's swim team wrapped up their dual meet season with a loss to Illinois College 98 – 123.
A Look at the Match- The women competed well winning a season high 6 events and swimming 7 "best" times but were significantly outnumbered so took a team loss. While not their best showing in terms of "bests", the women competed well and will now look ahead to the final meet of the season.
Highlights/Personal Bests-
-The 400 Medley relay had sophomore
Camille Abadie, senior
Lydia Pierce, freshman
Kassie Christensen and junior
Olivia Burbee teamed up for a time of 4:52.12
-Junior captain
Sanaya Baldauf took the first win for the women as she swam a lifetime best 12:24.39 in the 1000 to easily outdistance the competition
-Abadie scored a win in the next event – the 200 IM – with her 2:39.75
-Pierce won a tight race in the 50 Free in 27.16. She also took the win in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:12.89
-Christensen placed 3
rd with a season best 29.46
-Abadie added a second win for her with a win the 200 Back in 2:26.09 followed in by Burbee in a lifetime best 2:49.10
-Pierce then won her 3
rd event – the 200 Breast – with a lifetime best 2:43.53. The time puts her 10
th all-time at Principia College in the event
-The 200 Free relay wrapped up the meet as the team of Burbee, senior
Elizabeth Hull, sophomore
Heather Savoye and Baldauf went a 2:06.73
Up Next- The women will now turn their attention to the final meet of the season – the Liberal Arts Championships. Due to COVID, the team will swim their portion of the Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 5 & 6 at their home pool. The morning prelims sessions will start at 10am and the evening finals will start at 5pm.
